Finch has a playful, curious quality, but there is also a deeper narrative running through it. The bird feels both imagined and symbolic - part creature, part memory, part story.

Nestled among tangled foliage and vibrant blooms, a small bid pauses on a branch, quietly holding its place in a richly layered world. Fragments of handwritten markings are woven into its wings and tail, suggesting memories, songs and stories carried through time.

The yellow outline gives the bird an otherworldly presence as though it has emerged from a dream. Surrounded by native flora and intricate patterns, it becomes a messenger between nature and imagination - small in scale yet impossible to overlook.

Themes: Nature, memory, storytelling, music, Australian flora, imagination.

What I love about this piece

This bird arrived unexpectedly while I was camping on the Mid North Coast of Australia with some of my art supplies and an empty canvas. He seemed to carry his own story. I love the contrasts between its bold graphic outline and the textured background - a reminder that even the smallest creatures can have a powerful presence.

Artists Notes

As both interior designer and artist, I create artwork that not only stands on its own but also enhances the spaces in which it is displayed. My work is inspired by colour, nature and the way art can transform a room and create emotional connection with a home.
