Finch has a playful, curious quality, but there is also a deeper narrative running throughit. The bird feels both imagined and symbolic - part creature , part memory, part story.

Nestled among tangled foliage and vibrant blooms, a small bid pauses on a branch, quietly holding it's placein a richly layered world. Fragments of handwritten markings are woven into it's wings and tail, suggesting memories, songs and stories carried through time.

The yellow outline gives the bird an otherworldly presecence as though it has emerged from a dream. Surrounded by native flora and intricate patterns, it becomes a messenger between nature and imagination - small in scaleyet impossible to overlook.

What I love about this piece

This bird arrived unexpectedly while I was camping on the Mid North Coast of Australia with some of my art supplies and an empty canvas. He seemed to cary his own story. I love the contrasts between it's bold graphic outline and the textured background - a reminder that even the smallest creatures can have a powerful prescence.
