A year ends, a year begins

I don't know about you all but I'm always SUPER excited about 'change' in general and the fresh feeling that it gives me. The new year (any new year that is) always seems like such an exciting time for me.

I must say that 2017 has been a fantastic year for me and the busiest work year to date for Visual Edge. So many inspiring new projects! My work has been varied and interesting and I have met some amazing people along the way. I hope that your year has been as good as mine and that this trend continues throughout 2018.

The highlight in my working year for 2017 was the completion of the IONA centre for St Columba which was a huge project for me! I enjoyed every last minute of this work and hope that my association with St Columba will continue in years to come.

Here's a little peek at the professional pictures just hot off the press by Jeremy Rogers.

The refurbishment of the St Columba Anglican Schoool library was also a major project and you have seen the pictures in a previous post. I'm very happy with the outcome and received very positive feedback from everyone.

Think Water has been keeping me very busy since the conference when I addressed their delegates in Alice Springs earlier in the year. I have been re designing stores all over Australia and New Zealand since then and loving every minute. The analytical nature of retail design is a great challenge and pulls knowledge from my career roots doing store displays, Visual Merchandising and product placement with David Jones in the 90's. Think Water are a great group of people, they are a franchise of irrigation plumbing retailers. It may sound a bit boring to you, but retail strategy cuts across all product types and all kinds of retailers.

Logo design has been busy too with may completed throughout the year.

The Garden Village new build has been an exciting project and the multi story aged care residential buildings are under construction. Near the top of Hastings River Drive near the roundabout as you look to the right the massive complex is starting to pop up out of the ground. A very exciting time as I have been working on this one for a number of years and it is finally coming to fruition. Undoubtedly something to look forward to in 2018.

The refurbishment of the existing chapel for Garden Village has been an interesting one too with a more traditional approach. It was something I haven't done before, that is, designing twin non sectarian stained glass feature windows and working closely with a lead light artisan to completion. The final result was complete just before Christmas and everyone is thrilled with the result.

Dulux Australia has been keeping me busy as usual with countless domestic projects and with the amount of new faces living in Port Macquarie and the extremely busy new build sector, needless to say, the domestic projects are a constant.

here s a little look at some of my domestic projects for 2017:

Anyhoo....I don't want to bore you too much with my 2017 comings and goings...there were many more exciting projects in 2017 that I could show you but you get the picture! The year was a very busy one for me work wise and certainly kept me out of trouble. I love my work and the day to day variety of it keeps me happy and feeling blessed that I have an everyday working life that I LOVE. It actually feels like play... and I could not ask for a more satisfying career.

Finally, Id like to wish you all a Happy New Year and thank you very much for taking the time to read my blog. For my existing clients, I thank you for your support throughout the year and I hope that I've been able to help you overcome some design challenges, after all, that's what I do best.

Next year, I'm hoping to offer you more intellectual property in the form of blog content so if you want to learn or if you have design related topics you'd like to me to write about, just contact me here....I'll happily address any specific issues you might have if it relates to interior or exterior design. Oh, and by the way, if you live on the mid north coast of NSW and you'd like to arrange an interior design consultation, you can use the same link or just call me on 0438 847 825. I'd be happy to talk you through the process and provide a quotation. It's not scary at all!

Cheerio then,

Lisa
